Morish Nuts

Taste of Sydney 2012

Morish Nuts - Wednesday, March 14, 2012

The annual Taste of Sydney Show from 8th - 11th March kicked off our Eastern Walkabout, and what a great way to begin our East-coast Morish adventure. The weekend pop-up restaurant festival that will give you 'an unforgettable gourmet experience' complete with eating, nibbling, drinking, tasting and shopping - a foodie's haven!

Well, as the best shows always go, this one was off to an interesting start - the first day of the show had to be cancelled last minute due to the crazy weather in Sydney. A massive downfall of rain, and it didn't look like it was going to stop! So much rain in fact, that a guy at Bondi wearing a wet suit sitting at the foot of some stairs looked like he was sitting under a waterfall!

The rest of the weekend was looking fairly unpromising at that point!

But then, miraculously, the following day the sun was out and you wouldn’t have known that there was even a light shower, let alone torrential winds and rain only just the day before. So we had 3 glorious days of show time fun, and there were plenty of characters and Morish lovers that we met through the weekend.

One keen customer departed our stand with a gift of Soft Nougat for a friend - we've been informed that it didn't quite make it to the recipient, and she'll now be shopping for replacement Nougat bars for her friend AND herself on our website! (Too right, we say!)

We also spotted Simon Leong, who loved our Macadamias! You can see his blog about the whole festival here - it takes a lot of effort and a keen stomach to get round to ALL the exhibitors in just 3 days!!

So in the end the show was a great success, and a great start to another Eastern Walkabout. The next stop will be the Newcastle Show this weekend!

It's SHOW TIME!

Morish Nuts - Thursday, March 01, 2012

Wake up! Wake up! It's Autumn already!! And the best bit about heading into the cooler months? ALL OF THE SHOWS OF COURSE!!

Remember Archie's Eastern Walkabout last year? Well, we're travelling the East coast again and going to all those wonderful shows - filling up on that good ol' festival feel, catching up with old friends and nut lovers, and of course providing you with the huge joy of Morish show bags :-)

So get your calendars and diaries out and jot these down - if you're super duper excited like we are you may want to use highlighters and multicoloured pens too! Post its sometimes help, or flashing neon signs - but we hope you don't need to get that extravagant!

First up the Tastes of Sydney show from the 8th of March. The week after that (no messing about with free time here!) find us at the Newcastle Show (16th - 18th March). And then as we head into April, a bumper of a month we go!!

Those keenly awaiting the Sydney Royal Easter Show will get to go wild again; bring on the show rides, big crowds and lots and lots of show bags! We'll be there from 5th April until the 18th. And if you feel the need to see the show again and again, we'd be more than happy to assist your sugar levels with a bit of our special caramel coated Morish Premium Nut Mix.

We'll take a quick breath then shoot over to the NSW Caravan & Camping Show from the 20th. And while that's happening, we do a tricksy double whammy in the last weekend where you'll see us at the Royal Bathurst Show AS WELL between 27th - 29th April.

Yep, that's right - we can multi-task so well you might as well call us a woman!

And not to keep the other side of the country awaiting their Morish fix - you'll also see us at…Wagin's Woolorama (9th & 10th March), Araluen's Fremantle Chilli Festival (10th and 11th March) and the Perth Caravan & Camping Show from 15th - 19th March.

And what about that middle part of Australia who don't get to go to any of these shows?! Well, hit us up online and you can get in as much Morish munching as you can get your virtual hands on. Our ordering system is quick and easy, and we post your scrummy goods out to you as soon as we get the order.

Marv!

Be my Valentine?

Morish Nuts - Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Macs have a crunch,
Chocolate is creamy,
A peanut in a top hat,
Is certainly dreamy!

A hamper for her,
A hamper for him,
To be without Morish today,
Would be a sin!

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I'd choose a packet of Morish Nuts,
Before I choose you!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Treat yourself, and (arguably) more importantly your loved ones, to a delicious Morish indulgence on the most romantically hallmarked day of the year. For chocolate lovers, we recommend the Choc-Coated Macadamias - yummy Australian macs coated in our special caramel coating, then smothered in rich creamy chocolate for an irresistible crunch. If savoury is more to your liking, try our special Morish Savoury Nibbles with tempting roasted and salted macadamias and cashews, and oven baked pretzels.

Or for more of an indulgence our hampers are right up the romance ally - try the Jumper Tote Bag for everything you love about Morish, packed neatly in a red-bowed bag. And our super-indulgent Morish Mondo Nuts and Nougat Feast which even has a bottle of sparkling to share!

Lovers, delight! And - if there's no ball to the chain - there's just one more of Morish all for YOU! (All the single ladies, put your hands up!!)

And, as always - have a nutty day! :-)

Hamper up! Christmas is near!

Morish Nuts - Thursday, November 24, 2011

Frantic are the days in the lead up to Christmas - how could it be December, ALREADY?!

Well, we at Morish like to [try] take it easy during the festive season, so we'll pass on some gift-giving advice to make it a cinch for you too.

Plan Ahead

It's that point at which you are wondering around the shopping centre for the 11th hour straight, slightly loopy because of the ice-cream stops you HAD to make along the way, yet still without any success of "gifts" that it really sinks in: Christmas shopping is hard. We suggest planning your gifts before hitting the shops expecting them to jump out at you from windows, encased in the perfect gift wrap and hand written card. Zip, bam, boom - you have a list and it takes less than an hour to wiz around, ticking off Dad, Sis, second cousins and Grandma's next door neighbour.

Order a Morish Hamper online

Our hampers are choc-a-block full of scrumptious goodies (who needs a stocking if you get this instead???) and it is easy peasy to order online and have it delivered right to you in a flash. Or, to put on our convenience crown, you can deliver a gift straight to the giftee's front door! Our Jumbo Hamper comes in a very pretty tote bag (yes, you get that too!) and for a special gift our new Morish-Mondo Nuts and Nougat Feast is now on sale!

STEP AWAY FROM THE SOCKS AND JOCKS!

Another Christmas, another round of socks and jocks from dear little mum's and Nanna's everywhere. For a Secret Santa pressie? Not so cool.

When in doubt, use pretty wrapping paper.

It's all about presentation, right? So if the present inside isn't the most hippity-hop, smother it in beautiful packaging and pretty bows so it APPEARS to be something great. Maybe, it will look SO good that people will just want to keep it wrapped under the tree, forever.

For more ideas, follow our Morish X-Mas Countdown
We'll be featuring a product every week in the lead up to Christmas on the Morish Nuts Facebook page. For the perfect gift for Secret Santa's, family, friends and work colleges - we'll have the best ideas up our white-trimmed red sleeves.

Love BITES

Morish Nuts - Monday, February 14, 2011

The day to choose your Valentine and celebrate love has come again – expect to see many red roses, heart shaped chocolate boxes and pink balloons in a glorious, gooey over-share of affection… But here at Morish, we like to also celebrate the fact that love BITES. Have a look at some of these love bloopers through time…

1. Romeo & Juliet

Tragedy stemming from two innocent lovers who jumped to conclusions well before they should have. After falling deeply in love despite the ongoing war between their two families, the situation eventuated with Juliet taking a sleeping drug that would put her into a death-like coma for a couple days. The message was SUPPOSED to have been given to Romeo, although when he saw his love “dead” he then consumed a fatal poison to reunite with her. Upon waking, moments later, and seeing her Romeo, Juliet decides to take her own life to join HIM. Moral of the story – keep calm and collected in the face of potential poisoned loved ones, and make sure you learn DR-ABC.

2. Tristan & Isolde

Story goes; Isolde was the daughter of the King of Ireland. She was betrothed to King Mark of Cornwall. Mark sent Tristan to Ireland to bring Isolde back to Cornwall so that he could marry her. On the way home, Tristan and Isolde fell in love. Back in Cornwall, Isolde married Mark anyway, but continued the love affair with Tristan. When Mark found out, he banished Tristan from Cornwall (but forgave Isolde). Lesson learned? Don’t get a mate to escort your ‘one true love’ back to you – do it yourself.

3. Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, "Pretty Woman"

Gere made the mistake of sharing secrets he shouldn’t have, which made his Pretty Woman mad (and thus leave). But the key to a girl’s heart? Climbing a half dozen set of stairs with a bouquet of roses even when scared of heights, proving that she’s worth it. Altogether now, Aww…

4. Cinderella and The Prince

What was Cinderella’s downfall? After a fantastic night of dancing with The Prince at the ball, she ran away at midnight in her pumpkin-turned-magical-carriage. However, being a bit of a clumsy one and having left just one shoe behind (luckily – or maybe even quite strategically?!), The Prince took on the challenge of finding the one and only who would fit the glass slipper. So what do we learn here? Running away from true love probably isn’t the best answer to things, but determination serves well.

But above the tragedies, the hiccups, and the bloopers, love really does triumph over all. So we wish you all a Happy Valentines Day and suggest you sink your romantic teeth into the Morish Love Bites goody pack to celebrate – with Morish Cashew, Macadamia and Soft Nougat, what’s not to LOVE?

Until next time,
Your one and only – Morish xox

A Merry Morish Christmas!

Morish Nuts - Monday, December 20, 2010
Things have been busy in the Morish kitchen! With the festive season just around the corner, we’ve had plenty of orders for Chrissy hampers and presents. Everyone wants to get their hands on some Morish nuts!

Our “elves” have been hard at work in the kitchen to get ready for the busiest time of the year. So there’s been LOTS of roasting, sorting and packing to get everyone’s Morish gifts ready before Santa arrives. What’s been the favourite this year? Our newest Chrissy gift hamper – Santa’s Nut Sack. For only $19 this is a real treat (a definite winner under the Christmas tree!) – it includes Morish Premium Caramel Nut Mix and Savoury Nut Mix, plus Morish Crunch and Peanut Brittle – delish!

And if you have someone in mind who has a really big sweet tooth – the Morish Jumbo Tote Bag has everything you (and they) could dream of! It includes Morish Cashew, Peanut, Almond, Macadamia, AND Hot & Spicy Peanuts, plus Peanut Brittle, Crunch, Soft Nougat bar, and Morish Pralene. And what makes it even better is that you can order online – have a look at our Hampers page.

And when can I get hold of some Morish during Christmas, you ask? We’ll be keeping things festive around here, open 8.30am – 4.30pm everyday right up until Christmas Eve. So if you haven’t stocked up on your Christmas treats and gift hampers yet, pop into the kitchen – we’d love to see you!

At 12 noon on the 24th we’ll be closing up shop, then returning to our lovely Morish home on January 10th. But don’t worry, if you’re having a few Morish cravings, you can still order from our website – we’ll deliver as soon as we get back!

From the team at Morish, we wish you a VERY merry (and Morish!) Christmas.
We’ll see you in the New Year!

Nutty treasures and trinkets at Craft Show.....

Morish Nuts - Wednesday, December 01, 2010
Getting back into the show spirit, Morish set up at the annual Treasured Craft Creations on November 19th. Held at Claremont Showgrounds, the show runs over a full weekend and is jam packed with handmade crafts, gifts and home wares, along with antiques and collectables. The show is quite a TREASURED event to us (see what we did there?!) having participated for 15 years.

So once again, Morish took front and centre at Claremont with a stall full of your favourite Morish treats. Show-goers went NUTS over the special Choc-Coated Ginger, Crystallised Ginger, Choc-Coated Apricot, and Choc-Coated Liquorice in our show-only special bargain bin. For those who already love Morish, these exciting new snacks were certainly something to shout about!

And with so much happening at the show, they needed the energy too! For the first time ever, the brand new Polka Dot Vintage Market joined the show. With stall after stall of retro clothing and vintage accessories, Treasured Craft shoppers needed our Morish pick-me-up to get them through the day.

Also up for the taking were Morish Christmas hampers and gift packs. (PS: If you missed the show and want to snap up some of the delicious hampers to put under someone’s Christmas tree this year, have a look at the hampers page here!)

Looking forward to the next one! Watch our blog for more Morish updates and highlights.
