Morish Nuts

It's SHOW TIME!

Morish Nuts - Thursday, March 01, 2012

Wake up! Wake up! It's Autumn already!! And the best bit about heading into the cooler months? ALL OF THE SHOWS OF COURSE!!

Remember Archie's Eastern Walkabout last year? Well, we're travelling the East coast again and going to all those wonderful shows - filling up on that good ol' festival feel, catching up with old friends and nut lovers, and of course providing you with the huge joy of Morish show bags :-)

So get your calendars and diaries out and jot these down - if you're super duper excited like we are you may want to use highlighters and multicoloured pens too! Post its sometimes help, or flashing neon signs - but we hope you don't need to get that extravagant!

First up the Tastes of Sydney show from the 8th of March. The week after that (no messing about with free time here!) find us at the Newcastle Show (16th - 18th March). And then as we head into April, a bumper of a month we go!!

Those keenly awaiting the Sydney Royal Easter Show will get to go wild again; bring on the show rides, big crowds and lots and lots of show bags! We'll be there from 5th April until the 18th. And if you feel the need to see the show again and again, we'd be more than happy to assist your sugar levels with a bit of our special caramel coated Morish Premium Nut Mix.

We'll take a quick breath then shoot over to the NSW Caravan & Camping Show from the 20th. And while that's happening, we do a tricksy double whammy in the last weekend where you'll see us at the Royal Bathurst Show AS WELL between 27th - 29th April.

Yep, that's right - we can multi-task so well you might as well call us a woman!

And not to keep the other side of the country awaiting their Morish fix - you'll also see us at…Wagin's Woolorama (9th & 10th March), Araluen's Fremantle Chilli Festival (10th and 11th March) and the Perth Caravan & Camping Show from 15th - 19th March.

And what about that middle part of Australia who don't get to go to any of these shows?! Well, hit us up online and you can get in as much Morish munching as you can get your virtual hands on. Our ordering system is quick and easy, and we post your scrummy goods out to you as soon as we get the order.

Marv!

Who can resist those puppy eyes??

Morish Nuts - Thursday, November 03, 2011
When we make friends, we like to keep them.

Especially when they're cute and furry.

Here at Morish we've been supporting the Guide Dogs for 12 years (that's 84 in dog years!!). Starting in our humble home in WA, where in fact the first Guide Dogs of Australia began when a young chap called Arnold Cook decided to start the organisation, we've helped them raise money in one of their best fundraisers of the year!

It costs $30,000 to train each one of those Guide Dog pups (they're not ALL puppy eyes and wagging tails!), so the Association relies completely on the generosity of those who donate to their Guide Dog Program. And, each Guide Dog is actually given to those in need free of charge, so supporting them through fundraising is vital.

And that's where Morish step in!

Each year before the Royal Show you can buy a super-duper-special Guide Dogs/Morish Nuts Hamper or Tote Bag. What's the benefit? Well, you get a hamper full of scrummy goods to eat (both for you AND little Fido) plus you could win free tickets to the show. AND BEST OF ALL, you're helping raise funds to train those little pooches.

Soon after WA caught on to the Hampers, we quickly rolled out to Queensland and New South Wales.

These yummy hampers only come 'round once a year so make sure you let us know to be put on the list so you don't miss out! Delicious Morish nuts to eat AND adorable puppy eyes? That's a double whammy, you really can't miss out.

Helping cute puppies who love to help the blind? And all we have to do is eat a hamper of Morish Nuts?!

You don't have to ask us twice…

So we say our thank yous and bowwows with a nibble or two of Morish.

Morish strike again at the Royal Melbourne Show!

Morish Nuts - Monday, September 12, 2011

CROWDS OF PEOPLE BUSTLE THROUGH THE STREETS OF MELBOURNE CITY. MONTHS OF ANTICIPATION HAD BOILED DOWN TO JUST DAYS AWAY TO THE ANNUAL ROYAL SHOW. THE CITY WAS BUZZING.

 …MEANWHILE

A MYSTERIOUS GUEST ARRIVES AT THE SHOWGROUNDS… IT'S MORISH NUTS, MAKING THEIR RETURN TO THE MELBOURNE SHOWGROUNDS AFTER 12 YEARS!

Excitement has been brewing at the Morish kitchen as we FINALLY get to spill the beans and reveal our comeback to the Royal Melbourne Show!

We last came to the show over a decade ago in 1999 and have truly missed the thrills and fun at the Melbourne Showgrounds. It's been a loooooong 12 years…

…So we've decided to come back!

Celebrating its 156th year, the Royal Melbourne Show is packed full of the best show adventures you could ask for. But of course, amongst the usual adrenaline-pumping rides, show bags galore, freebies and cute animals at the petting zoo, WE WILL BE THERE (!) to make your trip to the show a Morishly good day out.

We'll have all our classic show bags with us - Premium Show Bag ($30 - the way to go if you're a little bedazzled by our glorious selection), Jumbo Show Bag ($40), Mums & Dads Show Bag ($20) and the Junior Show Bag (which now includes Pop-a-Jak we might add - $10). Plus, we have a new Macadamia Show Bag ($35) for those who like a bit of indulgence. So you can certainly stock up with all your favourite Morish goodies.

And we have free tastings all day, every day - now if you weren't already immediately impressed at the news that we're at the show again, this should certainly seal the deal.

We'll see you at show!

(that was us bursting into the Melbourne showgrounds like there's no tomorrow)

The Morish how-to guide for the Royal Adelaide Show

Morish Nuts - Monday, August 29, 2011
The Royal Adelaide Show is just a few days away, and just like you we're at the "so excited we can barely sleep" level of enthusiasm.

One of the reasons we're SUPER excited for this year's show is that we'll have our brand new Morish Tamari Almonds there, and show goers will be among the FIRST to try our newest savoury delight. Oven roasted Australian almonds bathed in tangy tamari sauce… If you're a fan of the Morish Savoury Nibbles, you'll definitely need to give this a try!

But before you head off to enjoy a week of show-time fun, we thought we'd use our expertise (we are annual show goers after all) and let you in on a few secrets to really get the most out of the show this year!

Tips for enjoying the best of the show;

1. Try as many rides as possible

The show only comes once a year, so you might as well go ahead and release all your adrenalin cravings at once with the many rides that you'll find at the show. If you don't know where to start, we suggest going for those with the best names (just like betting on horses come race day) - Rock 'n' Roll Matterhorn, Gravitron and another called the "Fungee Bungee" get our votes this year.

We're also interested in a brand new ride, the Disco O… We're imagining something that involves an endless playlist of 70s hits - groovy.

2. Freebies!

We know that one of the biggest highlights of going to the show each year is stocking up on freebies that generally come at you from left right and centre, so take advantage of this! Hint, hint, if you visit us at the Morish stand we have many delicious [free] samples to share with you :-)

3. Eat your hearts out

Who can resist all that show food - fairy floss, hot dogs, baked potatoes - and you'll definitely need it to give you that energy boost to get to everything you want to see. Although we find that regardless of the sugar intake, you always seem to end up completely exhausted at the end of the day…

4. It's all about strategy

You're going to the show. There are a million and one things you 'need' to see or do. Best way to tackle it? Prioritise. There's only so much sprinting-to-the-next-thing-you-see-that-looks-good before you end up dizzy with very sore feet.

And a small piece of advice? Aim to buy the bulk of your show bags on the way out to avoid becoming a pack horse (PS: kids, this is not what mum is at the show for).

5. Don't get lost

Might be a simple tip, but a good one. Don't spend half your day searching for your lost cousin, because even though you made him wear the red hat and wait by the petting zoo, there's probably about a thousand others who have ingeniously carried out the same "nobody else will think of this" idea.

It's much better to stick to the "safety in numbers" idea.

6. Buy your Morish show bag

It's not every day you get to see us, so make sure you stock up and get your Morish fix while you can! We'll be back with your favourite show bags, like the Mums & Dads Show Bag ($20) and Morish Jumbo Show Bag ($40). Plus our new Macadamia Show Bag ($35)! Don't forget you can order online when your stocks get low!

Enjoy the show, we'll see you there!

Archie’s Eastern Walkabout: Embarking over the Bass Strait

Morish Nuts - Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Off to Tasmania we go! After travelling the south of the country across the Bite, we head towards our fondly loved little Tazzy for a bit of sight-seeing. A nice break from the heat and the long roads! Arriving onto Tasmanian soil was, just like our Morish Nougat – a SWEET relief!

A wonderfully buzzing place, the Salamanca Market in Hobart was home to many hand crafted and home made treasures. We’re hoping to exhibit Morish Nuts here! We also want to come back for the Royal Hobart Show in October… look out for us again Tas!

But it was soon time to hit the road again – so back over the Strait and on towards Sydney we went!

On the road we found more of the Big’s to add to our collection – have a look at these golden oldies:

Not to be outdone, Golbourne has really gone to town with this impressive ramm.

And a special entrant to the category, the dog at Gundegai may not be large but for me it’s a sentimental favourite…

Soon enough we were at Canberra for the Royal Show – nice to return once again to one of our favourites! Here are some of our highlights:

Anita and Johan, recent arrivals from South Africa, at their first ever Aussie Royal Show! Anita chose black and white candy stripe to compliment her Premium Nut Showbag.

Kay from Morish QLD and Marie helping a show-goer at the award-winning display (but we don’t like to brag about it).

Mum devotee of the Canberra Royal Show and Morish Nuts introducing 8-day old Lucas to the pleasure of both!

Little William buying dad (an avid Collingwood supporter) a Morish Nuts showbag, ably assisted by mum. Our black and white stripes are a perfect match for fans!

This Bondi Beet was blushing bright red after taking out first prize in the school’s vege sculpture competition!

And after a fantastic week of interesting characters, stories, memories and PLENTY of snacking, we had a slight hiccup…

Marie, Bob and Kay had to struggle without yours truly on last day of the show as I had to be rushed off to Canberra hospital in middle of the night in an attack of kidney stones! I then spent the day being poked, prodded and pricked… But the very pleasant and helpful crew made things much more bearable! Lani and Pauline on duty at the emergency ward are to be commended! Pauline confessed to being a Morish Nuts tragic – her favourites are almond and cashew.

Unfortunately, the girls could not get to the show due to heavy work load. But not to worry ladies, a hamper of Morish goodies are on the way, and a big thank you for your cheery disposition!
