Merry Christmas from Morish!

Morish Nuts - Wednesday, December 19, 2012

It’s that time of year again, when everyone begins to wind down after 12 long months of hard work and starts to wind up on end of year celebrations and Christmas cheer.

This time of year is special for many reasons, it’s a time to reflect on the year behind you and look forward to the one in front.

2012 has been another great year for us;

We kicked everything off with a couple of great weekends of Truffle hunting at the Manjimup Truffle Kerfuffle Southern Forest Food Festival and the Mundaring Truffle Festival. Aside from tasting the unique produce, the cute truffle sniffing pooches were great to see.

Another stellar show season saw us travel to nearly every corner of this beautiful country of ours and along the way we met some equally beautiful people. Beginning all the way over in Queensland we soaked up the Sunshine at EKKA. We then travelled far north and ended up at the Karratha FeNaCLNG Festival where we were welcomed with open arms into the community.

Launching the Decadent Show Bag at Perth Royal Show was a great success. We sold out of the largest and most expensive show bag well before the gates closed on the final day.

We spent all of August day dreaming of competing in the Olympics, living vicariously through our gold winning Australian competitors, taking home an impressive 32 gold medals in the Paralympics.

But while this year has been great, next year looks to bring more exciting adventures and most importantly, meeting more Morish fans and making more Morish Nuts!

From everyone at Morish Nuts, we wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

Wake Up Everyone! There's too much to do to be hybernating

Morish Nuts - Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Happy New Financial Year everyone!! ....  *cue crickets chirping*

We understand  it’s hard to get excited while we are in the middle of a bitterly cold winter, but we are here to remind you that there is fun to be had all year round. And not just here in Perth; all over Australia!

Morish just wrapped up their 13th year of visiting the Brisbane Caravan and Camping Show. A whopping 71,000 visitors attended over the seven days despite the miserable weather. As can be expected, the show was all about getting out into the great outdoors and all the gear you need to make the outdoors a little bit more comfortable; Fifth Wheelers right through to hiking tents.  Accessories, tourist information from around Australia and the various odds and ends which are a camper’s life were all on display. Thanks to those who came to see us. Here's to another 13 years!

A Truffle Kerfuffle Weekend

Morish Nuts - Thursday, June 21, 2012

We spent the weekend in Manjimup with our noses to the ground in search for the elusive truffle, at the second annual Truffle Kerfuffle Southern Forest Food Festival.

This was our first time at Truffle Kerfuffle, adding to our ever growing list of must attend truffle festivals. The day was full of delicious gourmet food and hugs with the stars of the show, the gorgeous truffle sniffing Labradors.

The exciting thing about the beginning of truffle season, as well as the festivals, the amazing food and the cute truffle sniffing puppies ( .... ok EVERYTHING about truffle season is exciting!), is the return of our limited edition Truffle Macadamias! Made exclusively for WA’s  truffle festivals, these little gourmet delicacies are as exclusive as the truffles themselves!

The coveted French black truffle, a delicacy due to their world-wide scarcity, is used to create our unique Morish Truffle Macadamias. The lightly roasted macadamias are bathed in truffle oil then gently tossed in truffle salt, bringing the delicate truffle flavours to the palate from the first delectable mouthful. This gourmet snack is sure to get the tastebuds tingling, and even tempt a couple of you truffle sceptics!

These tasty morsels are only available in limited supply, so if you missed them at Truffle Kerfuffle you can pick some up at the Mundaring Truffle Festival held on the last weekend in July.

Get more information on the Mundaring Truffle Festival here.

And don't forget to come see us at the Every Woman Expo being held at the Perth Convention Centre from the 29th June - 1st July.

Truffle Macadamias a hit at the (very wet) Mundaring Truffle Festival

Morish Nuts - Wednesday, August 03, 2011

Fighting the wind and rain did not leave much time to snap photos (Moses would have been at home parting the waters, I'm sure) but the weekend was a good one despite the less desirable weather. I have learned that truffle aficionados are a hardy bunch, even this wild weather did not discourage them.

We were 'lucky' enough to have a water feature in front of our site, and the kids certainly had a ball sloshing and sploshing with determination through this minor obstacle on route to dog expo, searching AND finding truffles!

Our new Morish Truffle Macadamia, made especially for the festival, were an absolute hit. We even had to come back and collect extra supplies to feed the masses on Saturday night!

Other food offerings found at the festival looked scrumptious….Wood spit roasted loin of pork from Il Paiolo the pizza man… melt in the mouth. Hazel Nut and Truffle soup with crusty French stick by Jean Pierre Sanchez Boulangerie - an earthy winter warmer treat perfect for the day. Alain Fabrergues of the Loose Box in Mundaring offered a variety of tempting tasting plates, my favourite, Truffle pate infused with Courvoisier cognac.

….Well, I could just go on, but it would really work much better if you just join us next year and do the tantalising of the taste buds personally!!

Manic about truffles in Mundaring

Morish Nuts - Thursday, July 28, 2011

Truffle season has hit, and Western Australia likes to celebrate!

The pristine south-west of WA is the perfect spot for digging up the rare French Black Truffle, which come into a short season during our brisk Winter months.

And to honour the mighty truffle, we here at Morish have decided to go a bit truffle-manic ourselves with our new Morish Truffle Macadamia! Lightly roasted macadamias are bathed in truffle oil then gently tossed in truffle salt, bringing the delicate truffle flavours to the palate from the first delectable mouthful… Mmm!

Truffle-lovers are already falling in love with our Truffle Macadamias, just like The West Australian who featured our delicious new macs in their special truffle feature in FRESH last week (their office is going a bit truffle crazy as well!).

In fact, West Australians love their truffles SO much that literally thousands of truffle-nuts visit the south west to get their fair share of the stuff while it lasts! And the perfect opportunity to learn and taste everything about truffles is at the annual truffle festival in Mundaring.

The Mundaring Truffle Festival has been running for 5 years, and it's ever growing popularity means that it attracts over 20,000 visitors to the festival weekend from Australia and beyond - meaning our "little" Mundaring has now respectfully earned its right on the global culinary calendar!

This weekend, 30th - 31st July 2011, the Mundaring Truffle Festival will be held once again in Mundaring, WA. The weekend is full to the brim of truffle action, with cooking masterclasses, entertainment, food discussion panels, food tasting, wine tasting - everything truffle! You can even meet the truffle dogs!

Oh and did we mention? Morish will be there too!

So best of all (if we don't say so ourselves) you can taste and stock up on our delicious Truffle Macadamias - they have been made exclusively for the festival!

Happy truffle fest!
